British Airways Limited was established in the year 1974 during the month of April, amalgamating two airlines viz. For Gulf locations and Far East regions, the airways operate from India in its major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore.

Although British Airways is considered as the major national carrier of United Kingdom, the airways have no flights for Northern Ireland from London and it does not have any service for Wales which attracts lots of criticism. In the very recent times, complaints have been lodged from the end of other airlines for the monopoly of British Airways in the Heathrow Airport of London and demand for transatlantic routes for the other airlines also. At present, British Airways is contemplating to extend its service in the countries like Bosnia, Herzegovina, Germany and Brazil and simultaneously terminating its service to the countries like Ukraine, Kiev, Greece, Latvia, Riga and Athens.

In comparison to International Airfares for various sorts of airlines in different countries, it is found that fares for flight undertaken through British Airways are comparatively cheap. The network of British Airways is very big and that is why it carries large percentage of total air passenger throughout the world which also enables it to give cheaper rates of airfares compared to International Airfares found in other companies of airlines in the globe.
